Pinterest Wednesday (On Thursday): Full On Fall Fashion

BY ALEX

Its getting chilly outside here in Western Montana, so it seemed only appropriate that we honor the change in weather with a post celebrating cuddly fall clothes. Cue the scarves, socks, and sweaters.

Happy Birthday, Nina

BY ALEX

So my friend Nina’s birthday was last week and I thought that since she is a foodie, and I am fairly broke at the minute, rather than hitting up the fancy kitchen gadget store I would make her a delicious snack. I wanted to choose something that would be doable for me but time-consuming enough that she may not take it on herself. Where do you think I went for inspiration? Pinterest, of course!

I <3 October

BY ALEX

Now that we are at the half way point in the month. . . a little happy quote for October.

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?”

Quote from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. A favorite book of mine as a child. My mom, sister, and I would curl up and read this book out loud before bedtime.

What I’m {Catching Up On} Right Now

BY ALEX

I’m not a scrapbooker, a photo album organizer, or even very good about printing out my digital pictures, but I am an obsessive Picassa user and photo backer-upper. After loosing a good deal of my pictures a couple years ago to a fried computer hard drive, I now attempt to back up after every exciting adventure that involves any amount of photography. This has been a busy summer for me and I have traveled to New Jersey, Glacier National Park, San Francisco, Seattle, and Las Vegas since last backing up. I think I would totally lose it if my computer crashed at this point and everything was suddenly gone. Tonight I will get my act together and transfer everything over to the big, clunky external hard drive where all of my photos go to rest. In the mean time, click through to see some choice shots from my most recent rambling.

Pinterest Wednesdays: Brights and Neons

BY ALEX

I am admittedly a basics girl. Most of the colors in my wardrobe range from gray to black with a bit of white thrown in. Lately though, with fall fast approaching and the promise of many cloudy days and early nights ahead, I am thinking that the neon trend might be on to something. Thought I am not a complete bright colors virgin (I have what my mother has deemed a “hunter’s orange” Kate Spade bag that I haul everywhere) I still approach it sparingly. Below are a few of my pinterest favorites that take bright colors and crazy combinations to the next level.

Bad Habits

BY ALEX

Since starting work as a development assistant (read: fundraiser) at my job nearly a year ago, I have been “encouraged” to write in the style of the organization. It wasn’t until talking to my friend Alison last night over beers that I realized that the organizational style comes with some big draw backs. By the way, Alison is in the media and publications department for the same nonprofit as me; she is also a darn good editor. So for the sake of your reading pleasure, I have opted to share with you the 4 big bad writing habits that I have developed over the past 11 months. This way you can catch them for me when I slip up in this blog, that or you can graciously ignore my grievous mistakes.

Fun Friday Links

BY ALEX

A photo I took at the top of one of my mountain bike rides this week.

Here are some fun links to get your Friday off on the right foot and set you up for the weekend. I will be rafting and camping a lot in the coming days (photos to follow). What exciting things do you have in store?

This online 3D bike shop lets you customize every part of your bike (the price is better than you would imagine!)

Or a bike made of cardboard?!

A pretty cool clock craft project from Design*Sponge.

One of the many places I will be eating when in NYC this September… and here too.

And a place I already tried when in San Francisco (try one of their many incarnations of eggs benedict).

A funny take on conserving water.

This real life Olympic scandal reads a little like an Onion news article.

The bag that I am seriously considering buying.

Happy weekend everyone!!
