Forest fires have been raging all across the American West, and here in Montana we have been feeling like we are standing in the middle of a campfire. Some days it has been so bad that you can smell the smoke in the air and see it lingering in the city streets. It makes outdoor exercise less pleasant and has even been setting off indoor smoke detectors.
But today everything changed.
This morning the air smelled fresh, the sky looked blue, and it felt like a proper fall day for the first time all year. To celebrate I went on a nice walk at lunch and just enjoyed being outside. I would like to say “thank you” to the weather pattern that temporarily blew the smoke out of our little valley. The respite from the cloud was much needed!
